Meet Crystal.
Crystal McKenna Green | Co-founder + COO
Crystal grew up in New York and Connecticut. After a few years working in human resources for major banks and lenders, she ditched the snow and relocated to Florida, where she began working at a publishing company. Quickly realizing she could turn her love of grammar and punctuation into an actual job, she finished her BA in English & Communications at Florida Atlantic University and spent several years wielding a red pen, both physically and electronically.
Tired of the sunshine, she moved back to Connecticut in 2011, met her now-husband (Steve) three days later, and entered the world of self-employment as a freelance copy editor. Soon, she was introduced to the world of presentations via a request to review PowerPoint decks for errors. After joining that marketing agency full time, she recognized that presentation work could bridge the gap between her love of all things correct, consistent, and cohesive and her creative side that wasn’t being flexed enough, so she learned as much as she could about PowerPoint and grew into the role of Presentation Services Director before stepping out on her own again.
Apparently moving up and down the east coast was something she couldn’t get enough of, so in 2015 she and Steve, along with their son, relocated to the Raleigh area. It’s pretty great in North Carolina, so they decided to lay down some roots.
Crystal can usually be found with her nose in a book, watering and talking to her houseplants, cooking something delightful, or playing with her two boys. She’s a night owl and spends many evenings in front of the computer working on slides (and obsessing over animation) while watching Parks & Recreation or Schitt’s Creek on repeat.
Crystal and Alex met in 2015. In 2019, they recognized two heads are better than one and they really just liked working with one another (really!), so they launched Ruby + Citrine as a way to utilize their expertise to make the business world a better place for both presenters and presentation-goers.
